This will be the seventh ‘Safety First Movement Promotion Central Council General Meeting & Safety Forum’ held in accordance with the Enforcement Decree of the Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety to improve the safety awareness of citizens and establish a safety culture promotion system based on cooperation between public and private sectors.
The conference has been held in Seoul in the past but Ulsan attracted the event to spread the Safety First Movements in other regions and added a meaningful value to this event as it is held outside of Seoul for the first time.
The general meeting of the central council will be held during the first part of the event, and there will be a presentation on safety culture and a session for general discussion during the second part of the event. The third part of the event will include a site experience for the participants to visit Simni Bamboo Grove on Taehwagang River and the disaster & safety experience center of the National Disaster Management Research Institute.
During the first part of the event, an opening speech, welcoming speech, and keynote speech will be given by Minister Kim Boo-kyum of Public Administration and Security, Mayor Kim Gi-hyeon of Ulsan Metropolitan City, and new co-chairman Lee Chae-pil of the central council respectively.
During the safety culture presentation that will be given in the second part of the event, the ‘Safety culture activities of Ulsan,’ ‘Strategic plans for creating safe schools of Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education,’ ‘Busan Buk-gu Geumgok Protectors who volunteered to be the neighborhood watch group of Geumgok-dong in Busan to create a safe regional society’ and ‘Safety First Movement activities of Safe Kids Korea’ will be introduced.
Furthermore, there will be a general discussion on the ‘Safety culture promotion plan’ led by Choi Ho-jin of the Korea Institute of Public Administration together with the representatives of participating local governments, public organizations, and civic groups.
The participants will have a chance to visit Simni Bamboo Grove on Taehwagang River that is designated as the national garden by Ulsan to actively publicize Ulsan to the members of the central council celebrating ‘Visit Ulsan 2017.’
A representative of Ulsan explained, “The event will give us an opportunity to publicize Ulsan to the members of the council and encourage residents to participate in Safety First Movements to spread and settle the resident-led safety culture.”
