Ulsan Holds Roundtable Meeting With International Residents

Plans to hear opinions from international residents of various ages and careers on Oct. 12

Ulsan is holding a roundtable meeting with Mayor Song Cheol-ho and 11 international residents of various ages and careers at the Ulsan Global Center, 6th floor of Ulsan Metropolitan Council, at 10 AM on Oct. 12.

This meeting was arranged in order to hear voices coming from international residents who are struggling with the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and take them into consideration when implementing policies to support international residents in the future.

In order to gather various opinions, the participants comprise people from 11 different countries, including the US, China, Vietnam and the Philippines—representing the majority of the international resident population in the city—with ages ranging from 30s to 50s, period of residence varying from 2 to 23 years, and various backgrounds such as professor, business owner, translator/interpreter, and homemaker.

At the meeting, Mayor Song Cheol-ho aims to provide consolation to worried international residents missing their family back home due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and hear their complaints and suggestions while living in Ulsan.

Ulsan plans to review the valuable opinions received from the international residents on this day and take into account when implementing policies to support international residents.

In Ulsan, as of the end of July, there are about 17,000 international residents from 94 countries, distributed in descending order from China to Vietnam and the Philippines. In terms of status of residence, international workers make up the largest number with about 6,000, followed by marriage immigrants and international students. Besides, in terms of age, people in their 30s accounted for about 33%, 58% men in terms of gender, and 34% Ulju-gun residents in terms of location.  End.
