49 lifesavers selected as “Heart/Brain/Traumasavers”

49 people lauded as heroes for saving people’s lives

The Ulsan Fire Department announced that they selected 49 people as "Heart/Brain/Traumasavers," comprising paramedics and civilians of 11 emergency assistance cases from cardiac arrest resuscitation to severe trauma patient care, during the third quarter of 2021.

A total of 28 “Heartsavers” (24 firefighters, 4 civilians) from 5 cases, 12 “Brainsavers” from 4 cases, and 9 “Traumasavers” from 2 cases will be awarded with certificates and “Saver” badges by each fire department.

Chief Jeong Byeong-do of Ulsan Fire Department praised, “The reason we were able to save lives of the patients was because of the prompt and CPR and professional treatment carried out by the civilians and paramedics,” and advised, “Since first aid performed within golden 4 minutes is critical for cardiac arrest patients, civilians as well as paramedics are encouraged to actively participate in CPR.”

“Heartsavers” refer to people who saved cardiac arrest patients, ‘Brainsavers” refer to people who minimized brain function damage for stroke patients, and “Traumasavers” refer to people who reduced aftereffects for severe trauma patients and kept them alive. All Heart/Brain/Traumasavers are honorable titles given to those who saved the lives of patients in an emergency situation.

The Heartsavers title was first introduced in 2008, and given to a total of 366 people (297 paramedics, 35 civilians, and 34 others) in the past three years.

Brain/Traumasavers were introduced in 2019, and the titles and certificates were awarded to 75 and 107 paramedics, respectively.  End.
