Ulsan Selected Excellent Local Government for Organization Management

- Secured KRW 900 million in recognition of efforts in efficient and active organization management

 Ulsan was selected as an excellent local government by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's employee relocation* and committee reorganization evaluation.
 * Employee relocation: Reducing the number of existing employee and relocating them when new administrative demand opens, instead of hiring a new employee and increasing the set quota.
 Ulsan secured a total of KRW 900 million special subsidies, KRW 600 million for employee relocation performance and KRW 300 million for committee reorganization performances.
It is also noteworthy that Ulsan was the only metropolitan government to receive the special subsidy of KRW 600 million for its outstanding employee relocation performance (relocating 2.3% regular employees).
The city’s efforts for workforce reduction for declining sector with the aim to show flexibility in responding to administrative changes were praised. Efficient workforce management such as merging or closing similar services was one of the reasons behind Ulsan’s success.
Ulsan inspected the committees once a month with a systematic streamline plan to reorganize its committees. Inefficient committees were merged, shut down, or became temporarily available only when needed, and such efforts helped Ulsan win KRW 300 million worth of special subsidies.
“We will make our organization and employee allocation more efficient thorough organization analysis moving forward,” said Ulsan official. He added, “We will focus on building citizen-centered administrative services.”
Ulsan is reorganizing its administrative body to make it more efficient for the citizens of the 8th local elections. The reorganization will be implemented focusing on civil life stabilization and boosting the local economy from Jan. 1, 2023.
