2023 World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) Annual Meeting

Promoting the Ulsan Free Economic Zone (UFEZ) and building partnerships with member countries

The Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority (Director Cho Young-shin) announced that it will participate in the 2023 World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) Annual Meeting in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from May 1 to May 3.

The annual meeting, now in its ninth year, is themed "Global Trade 2.0: Zones, An Ecosystem of Trust Driving Prosperity" and aims to provide growth opportunities for businesses of various industries through plenary sessions with more than 140 member countries.

This year's meeting will include plenary sessions, forums, and a celebration ceremony.

As the authority is participating in its first face-to-face event since joining the WFZO in May 2021 as the fifth free economic zone authority in Korea, it plans to meet with organizations and companies from different countries and promote Ulsan's world-class companies and excellent industrial infrastructure.

As a key agenda, Commissioner Cho Young-shin will deliver a speech during the plenary session on May 2, introducing the Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority and the investment environment of Ulsan.

Through the screening of a promotional video and in-person investor relations activities, the authority will promote UFEZ's core strategic industries and the potential of Ulsan becoming a hydrogen city. The Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority is expected to establish active cooperation with member countries.

The institution is slated to visit Dubai's Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), which has attracted more than 100 companies from the Fortune Global 500, and the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), which oversees eco-friendly energy such as solar power, etc. and electricity to benchmark their excellent business support policies and infrastructure and explore ways to build and develop cooperation in the energy industry.

"We are preparing for further expansion to become an international energy hub by attracting investment in core strategic industries such as hydrogen-based secondary batteries," said Cho Young-shin. He added, "Through face-to-face participation in this annual conference, we plan to promote the Ulsan Free Economic Zone to the world and strive to establish a cooperative network for overseas expansion and investment attraction for resident companies."
