Created two high-quality Ulsan-type park golf courses, which can be enjoyed by all generations

Gangdong Tourist Complex aims to create “premium park golf course for mountainous areas”

Samsan Yeocheon Landfill transformed into a park golf course within a garden

The Ulsan Metropolitan Government announced a full-fledged plan to create park golf courses in Gangdong Tourist Complex and Samsan Yeocheon Landfill to realize the dream of “Fun City Ulsan.”

The course in Gangdong Tourist Complex will be built as a premium park golf course for mountainous areas, considering its geographical characteristics.

In March, the government of Ulsan plans to initiate a bidding notice to select service enterprises in four areas regarding the construction of a park golf course in Gangdong Tourist Complex: initiation planning and change of tourist complex creation plan, clubhouse initiation plan, environmental effects evaluation, and disaster effects evaluation.

After selecting the service enterprises, the city plans to complete procedures such as initiation designs and the change of tourist complex creation plan from April to December, start construction in January the next year, and finalize the project by April 2026.

The area is 94,765 m2 and is situated at 27 Jeongja-dong, Buk-gu, near the Ulsan Safety Experience Center and Lotte Resort.

Ulsan’s government will create a park golf course with 36 holes, practice grounds, a clubhouse, and parking lots.

In particular, the plan is to create a new standard of park golf courses by actively utilizing the project area’s hilly features, placing suitable slopes and obstacles and configuring various course lengths and pars.

Furthermore, the city aims to secure a premium convenience area that allows both tourists and Ulsan citizens to enjoy the course in family units and as club members by leveraging the geographical characteristics of the tourist complex and creating a specialized park golf course considering nighttime operations.

The park golf course in Samsan Yeocheon Landfill will be implemented with an aim to create a “park golf course in a garden.”

The city will select service enterprises for six areas through a bidding notice, including implementation design, clubhouse implementation design, infrastructure implementation design such as entrance roads, environment effects evaluation, and disaster effects evaluation.

After selecting enterprises, Ulsan’s government plans to discuss implementation designs for creating the park golf course with the Nakdonggang River Basin Environmental Office, start construction in October this year, and finalize the project by October of next year.

Samsan Yeochon Landfill, where the course will be located, was used as Ulsan’s daily waste landfill from 1984 to 1994. The landfill is located at 8-22 Samsan-dong, Nam-gu, and has an area of 226,653 m2.

The city’s plan is to transform the area by creating a garden along with a park golf course with 36 holes, practice grounds, a club house, and parking lots.

A city official said, “Recently, we’ve been experiencing a steep increase of golf course club members, mostly seniors, prompting us to create premium Ulsan-type golf courses in Gangdong Tourist Complex and Samsan Yeocheon Landfill for all generations,” adding, “We will do all we can do let the courses become a living sports facility for all families as well as for older citizens.”
