Ulsan is producing more than 50% of Korea's total hydrogen production and has storage facilities for 140 million barrels of liquid cargo and 120,000㎥ of compressed gas, for optimal production and storage of hydrogen.
In 2013, Ulsan began a mass production of hydrogen powered cars for the first time in the world and has since established itself as the center of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle through the next generation of Nexo, a hydrogen fuel that can run at a maximum of 609km after a 5-minute charge, as well as through hydrogen buses and taxies, which began operations for the first time in Korea.
Ulsan is becoming an environmentally-friendly energy city by constructing Floating Offshore Wind Farms, which produce environmentally-friendly renewable energy and have a high impact on employment, as well as by operating a Northeast Asia oil gas hub project.
