Ulsan is where the leading oil companies equipped with the world’s largest refinery facilities such as SK energy and S-OIL are stationed, making the city No. 1 petrochemical producer in Korea (shipbuilding production amount of KRW 11,969.1 billion (34.2%); petrochemical industry production amount of KRW 102,339.9 billion (29%) as of 2019, Statistics Korea)

In addition, Ulsan Metropolitan City acts as the gateway to the domestic and international markets for major liquid bulk cargo handling companies.

With a goal of becoming one of the world’s three largest ports for liquid bulk cargo, Ulsan is preparing for a second leap forward by promoting the Ulsan New Port Hinterland Complex and the Southeast Asian Oil Hub construction projects without delay.
