Ulsan holds seminar on urban air mobility industry development technology Activities included introduction of Korean-style urban air mobility implementation status and parts certification system At 2 PM on Mar. 13, the Ulsan Metropolitan Government announced that it held the Ulsan Urban Air Mobility (UAM) Industry Development Technology Seminar at the Lotte City Hotel in Ulsan, participated in by around 50 relevant members in the automobile, aviation, and drone industries. The event was prepared to develop Ulsan-type UAM industries by sharing the implementation plan for the Korean-style UAM (K-UAM) technology development and information such as the certification system for air mobility parts. At the event, Kim Min-gi, the chief researcher of the Korean Agency for Infrastructure Technology Advancement, introduced measures for creating a cooperation system between the government and industries and crucial tasks faced by the urban air mobility industry with his presentation, “K-UAM Technology Development and Actual Implementation Plan.” Next, the head of the ANH Structure Center gave a speech on the status of the stability and reliability certification system for urban air mobility parts based on international standards with the “Urban-Type Aircrafts and Parts Certification System.” A city official said, “As a leading city in UAM areas, Ulsan is one step ahead in terms of establishing infrastructure based on substantive support,” adding, “We will do our best to develop the UAM industry so that our city will also play a pivotal role in Korea’s future mobility industry based on this advantage.” Meanwhile, Ulsan was selected as the target of the integrated demonstration area for the “Core Technology Development for the K-UAM Safety Operation System” project in June 2022. On Jan. 11, 2024, the city concluded an MOU with Hyundai Motors and Supernal to prepare the foundations for UAM demonstration. |
